Elan Van Diemen DP02 Sports Racer
Elan Motorsports Technologies now offers customers a car capable of competing and winning the IMSA Lites 1 and SCCA CSR championships. The single seater mid engine chassis will be delivered with full sports car bodywork and Elan Power Products (EPP) prepared Ford Duratec 2.3 litre engine. Main features of the car are carbon fiber composite monocoque including an FIA approved roll hoop, race designed suspension and uprights, 6 speed sequential gearbox, full aerodynamic front splitter, diffuser and rear wing. High specification wiring harness, ECU and dat logging capabilities. The use of the EPP developed Duratec race engine will allow a cost effective and reliable customer engine that can be bought and serviced at a competitive price. Estimated service life for the engine is between 3000/3500 miles, offering a full season of use before requiring a rebuild. After sales servicing will be backed up by the proven record of the Elan Power Products division. EMT will offer all future customers full engineering and technical track side support at each race supported by a qualified engineer. All Teams racing the Elan Van Diemen cars will receive equal support and access to the same factory developed programs and parts along with full spares service direct from the US factory in Braselton, GA.
Chassis: A full composite monocoquewith inegral fuel cell positioned between the structural driver's seatback bulkhead and rear bulkhead. The chassis conforms to current F3/FIA regulations regarding roll hoop loading, nose impact testing and side fuel cell squeeze criteria. The roll hoop is fabricated in steel and bulkheads are machined aluminum.
Cockpit Safety: Anti-intrusion Kevlar hip panels on both sides of the driver. The cockpit conforms to current Formula 3 safety regulations in respect of headrest and side head restraint requirements.
Suspension: Independent double wishbone with pushrod. Wishbones used wide based oval section, and include anti-intrusion bars. Uprights are cast heat-treated aluminum and incorporate large diameter angular contact bearings. Front anti roll bar is cockpit adjustable.
Steering: Race spec VanDiemen rack and pinion unit.
Brakes: 4-pot aluminum calipers acting on large diameter steel ventilated floating discs. Cockpit adjustable bias.
Wheels: OZ one-piece aluminum rims, center lock fixing: 9"x13" diameter fronts, 12"x13" diameter rears.
Engine: Elan Powere Products Ford Duratec 2.3 liter, 4 cylinders, 16 valves, Power (est.) 215+ BHP, 185+ ft/lbs torque. Package includes specially designed and developed intake manifold, Dry sump oil system.
Engine Cooling Systems: Twin race specification aluminum water radiators, oil tank lintergrated into gearbox casting using single air to oil cooler.
Exhaust System: Steel tubular headers.
Fuel Cell: ATL Racing Fuel Cell 19 US gallons. Foam-filled cell to FT3 specification with hatch access from the seat back bulkhead. Rollover/breather valve and Aeroquip fittings throughout. Filler neck inside roll hoop. Submerged high pressure (fuel injection) pumo included in the fuel cell.
Transmission and Driveline: Hewland sequential 6 speed, Magnesium cast bell housing. Tilton 5.5" 2 plate sintered clutch with lightweight flywheel and starter ring gear.
Bodywork: The bodywork will be manufactured from GRP. Full-length jabroc/aluminum skid with a rear mounted composite diffuser.
Aerodynamics: Front splitter, Diffuser, Single element adjustable rear wing.
